The all-rounder (dual-circuit machines)
These machines provide two different water temperatures at the same time. Hence the name dual circuit. This allows you to froth milk and prepare espresso at the same time, without having to wait. This is very convenient for all drinks with milk, cappuccino, latte...
Because of the two water circuits, the machine is a bit larger, a bit more expensive and has a slightly longer warm-up time after switching on than its smaller brothers and sisters, the single-circuit machines.
These machines offer the best price-performance ratio for the demanding household with espresso, cappuccino and tea drinkers.
Typical prices for good dual-circuit systems
1500 to 2300 euros
The EspressoProfi (single-circuit machines)
This machine is set to espresso 93 degrees in basic operation.
If you want to froth milk with such a machine, for cappuccino or latte you have to heat the machine to the second higher temperature.
This is a little more complicated than with a dual-circuit machine. The reward is a lower price, a smaller machine and very quick heating after switching on.
These machines are ideal for espresso lovers who occasionally prepare cappuccino or latte for friends or themselves.
Typical prices for single-circuit systems:
Here it starts at around 700 euros

Absolutely NoLimits (=Dual Boiler)
The pinnacle of creation are machines with two boilers. One for espresso and one for hot water and steam. This provides the highest steam output for latte art.
This comes at a price and requires a little more space, because the second boiler in the machine requires more housing. This also makes repairs, cleaning and descaling a little more complicated. Technically, it's almost like two machines in one housing.

typical prices Dual Boiler:
are between 2500 and 4000 euros
Saturated brewing group / fine machines
Here we are moving in the upper segment of what is possible.
These machines have a so-called saturated brewing group.
This is nothing less than your own small espresso machine directly above the portafilter. This increases temperature and brewing control to the maximum possible level. It doesn't get any better than this.
In June we tested the UnicaPro for crema. It can precisely measure, dose and display the amount of ground coffee, water and brewing pressure in real time.
Typical representatives are brands such as DallaCorte, Larmazocco, Rocket Nine, Feama, Slayer, Unica.
Typical prices for such machines:
4700 to 12000 euros, occasionally even more

hand lever machines
Machines for purists and enthusiasts.
A lever machine brews the coffee using a tension spring rather than a pump.
Purists swear by this gentle method of preparing coffee. Today, no one has to forego electronics and the latest technology just because they have a lever-operated machine. Rocket and Bezzera have one of these, and the top representatives of this group are ACS with the Vesuvio (pictured here) and the new one from Nurri.
Typical prices for hand levers:
4000 to 9000 euros

Grinders should match the quality of the portafilter machine and the coffee being drunk. Espresso grinders grind much finer and differently than filter coffee grinders and automatic grinders.
When it comes to grinders, the most important thing for the quality of the coffee is the grinder and motor. It's also nice if it's easy to use and looks good and matches the machine.

The grinder
In the first picture you can see a millstone like the ones used in modern mills; it grinds the coffee beans.
When it comes to the grinder, the bigger the better. Why is that?
First of all, the grinding is faster the larger the grinder is,
Secondly, the coffee grounds don't get as hot when the grinder is larger. This makes for an even better espresso in the cup. If you drink expensive coffee, you want it in your cup.
Our mills are tailored to the machines and have grinding mechanisms with diameters of 50 to 75 mm.
The grind
The grinding level determines how finely the powder is ground. This is important for the crema and taste. Technically, the distance between the grinding discs is changed.
High-quality espresso grinders have a very fine and very precise micro grind setting. All of our grinders have this.
Of course, the motor is extremely important; a powerful, long-lasting motor and the grinder are the core of the mill.

Handsfree Betrieb Siebträger

Hands Free means you can put the portafilter down during the grinding process; it doesn't need to be held.
Grind by Time - the standard today
They determine the time the grinder runs and therefore the amount (grams) in the portafilter.
Grind by Weight
These mills have a scale and thus measure the exact weight of the ground powder in grams, usually to an accuracy of 2/10 of a gram. They specify the weight in grams, not the time.
Single Dose
These grinders grind the exact dose for a single shot. Ideally, every grinder should dispense precisely the amount of coffee grounds that go in. In practice, however, considerable expertise is required to minimize the amount of coffee that remains in the grinder.
